Computer Woes

Whew! Things are starting to move again, but it’s been a tense couple of days/week. The power supply on our server went out and it’s one of those things that takes a while to diagnose and correct. I guess it was better that it was a holiday weekend so things weren’t too interrupted, but still! When you have computer (or any kind of life altering!) issues, it’s always so nice to have things back in working order. Since it’s been a full week, we can just pick up where we left off. Yay Stefani, our latest winner! heehee

Finally Up

Here’s what I did using the sketch on page 130 in the Go-to-Sketches idea book from last week’s review. I’ve really been feeling the pull of scrapbooking, so I took the sketch and turned it into a layout. This idea book really got the mojo flowing, so it was easy to get inspiration and get moving.

I also incorporated a challenge from the Papertrey Ink forum – Papertrey Pages June Challenge – which was to create your own background paper using stamps. I did that with the stamps around the edge of the circle cut-out. I also made my own patterned paper that I used for to mat the photo and also for the strip at the bottom. Of course, my signature bird is there as always, too.

Very happy with how this turned out, even with a slightly blurry pic. Love the glitter strip at the bottom. Definitely a girlie touch. With all boys in our house, it’s fun to do a girlie layout of my niece. Needs more pink, though. hahaha She’d just started smiling and showing her personality in January, so I was excited to find this picture when I downloaded a batch from their visit!

Was going to wait to past this until I could get the cards I did up, too, but decided to get this up for now since it looks like the rest will have to wait a little longer than planned. We have to get on the road to go to my grandfather’s 88th birthday party & there’s lots to do to get everybody ready! Have a great weekend, everybody!

Spring Break

The big boys and I are on Spring Break this week. Finished the last of my homework this afternoon, so now it’s official for all of us! Catching up with family in San Antonio this weekend and then who knows what the rest of the week will bring. It’s REALLY great to be able to be off with the boys – something I’ve wanted since Aydyn started school. So, this is just a quick update and I’ll share some pics as soon as I get them onto the computer to play with. I hope everyone’s starting to get some spring weather, even if it’s just some sunshine for now!

Starting to feel like spring

I’m a warm weather girl and this winter has been pretty COLD, so I’m glad that it’s starting to feel like spring around here. Still cold in the mornings but warming up nicely in the afternoons. I’m still wearing long sleeves and jeans, though, since it’s just warmER, not warm enough. Doesn’t take long for the chill to return in the evenings – especially when you’re a wimp like me. The boys decided today was officially the beginning of shorts weather. The birds have been around for a couple of weeks. Windows open to hear yards being cut. Definitely starting to feel like spring.

Three out of six of us are sick. Unfortunately, two of those are me and my husband. Hopefully this will pass quickly and we’ll be back to normal ASAP.

Party time – yellow everywhere

Big birthday weekend at our house. Not that anything big is really happening, but it’s a big birthday number for Chris, my husband. The big 4-0!! His plan to ride 40 miles tomorrow has been dampened (hahaha) by all the rain we’ve had yesterday and today. He decided this year to celebrate by going for a 40 mile ride and adding another mile each year. Good way to approach a birthday like this one, I think. Celebrate all that makes you ‘you’! Maybe on my birthday, I’ll do scrapbook pages instead. I’ve still got a few years until I need to start planning something special to celebrate 40, though, so we’ll have to wait and see. We got to start celebrating last weekend when everyone was together for Easter. And so far this has been the yellow birthday – all the presents he’s received have had a yellow focus. New running shoes – yellow soles; new yellow t-shirt; yellow cards in every envelope! Very odd, but also very yellow. So, for the big day tomorrow – yellow cake w/chocolate frosting at our house!

This week/weekend, we’ll keep the focus yellow, but next week, it’s turning to GREEN again! Earth Day’s coming & we’re definitely all about green at Little Monkeys! More info to come…

Not just a wimp after all

It turns out I didn’t just ‘injure’ my thumb, I actually have a small fracture at the joint. It took a long time to figure out there was more to the pain than the regular part of life kind of bumps and bruises. One of those things that, when you finally DO think things through, brings the obvious Homer Simpson “doh!” response. So, having to take it easy when I can – ha! Anyway, just a quick update since I’d blogging more frequently and everything. Still lots to say, just trying to use my mouth a bit more instead of the keyboard. Don’t worry, I’ll be back for some fun shortly!

Injured thumb, anyone? + a sneaky note

Ever hurt your thumb? Sprained or whatever? No idea what I did to my thumb, but it’s hurting like crazy – even just sitting in my lap not doing anything. So, I’ll have to keep this short to limit my time on the computer. It’s been an eye-opener, though, as to what great things these thumbs really are.

Quick heads up – we recently switched part of our site (mostly just the shopping pages) to use another service and we’ve had some trouble with email in general. Some messages are getting through, but lots haven’t – in and out. We didn’t know there was a problem since some were making it through, but finally figured it out yesterday/day before yesterday. I’m looking forward to being comfortable with email again. It’s such an integral part of life these days. So, if you haven’t heard from us, just know that we’re working through the kinks and will be doing as much follow-up as we can to check in with everyone.

Since we’re getting into February now, that means that the next color set will be coming soon! I’m really excited about it, but kind of sad to see the Apple Set go.
