Chocolate Dreams

I’ve been accused of not having much holiday spirit lately – whether it’s Christmas, Halloween or 4th of July.  I’ve always loved decorating for the different holidays and doing sweet things to surprise people.  So, how did this happen?  Me, the non-decorator, holiday downer??  Couldn’t be!!  Well, I do have to admit that the ‘extra’ touches have been taking a back seat to, you know, life.  Our busy, crazy, good life.  Definitely missing the extra zing I love so much, though.  ;)

So, since Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching, I’ve decided to declare Saturday a CHOCOLATE wonder day!  I’m going to surprise with chocolate all day long!  Only problem is, I could use some help in the idea department.  I happen to love chocolate chip cookie cakes, so I’ll make one of those and maybe even decorate it!  Gasp!  I’ve got some beginnings of ideas for breakfast, but I’d love to hear your suggestions to help me not do the same old thing.  You know, shake things up a bit!

Post your comments here and I’ll do a drawing on Friday for a Valentine’s surprise package – gotta have something good to look forward to on Friday, the 13th! :)

I am horrible with this kind of thing so I’m just going to go for it. Maybe make a breakfast that you’ve never tried before or something tried and true just mixed up a bit. Waffles shaped like hearts with strawberries maybe? I am SO not good at thinking outside the box! LOL Good luck!!

Ohh yeah, Chocolate Chip waffles with whipped cream and shredded chocolate on top……Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I’m coming to your house!!!! LOL

Chocolate milk and cookies for bedtime snack?

    Heart shaped pizza for supper?

Do a little scavenger hunt around your house and the final clue takes you to a chocolate fondue on a picnic blanket in the basement??

(gosh for someone who hates Valentine’s day I sure came up with a lot of GOOD ideas!! LOL)

While chocolate is good, chocolate with peanut butter is from heaven. Peanut Butter Bars! They’re a great way to celebrate Valentine’s, St. Paddy’s Day, doing a load of laundry, sweeping the kitchen, surviving winter!

I’ve never done anything with white chocolate, so I got some last night at the store – maybe I can dip some strawberries in it!!

OH, oh! I’m late! But I have a suggestion that’s been a big hit at our house. I am the only female here w/3 men – 2 in highschool, one my DH. Anyway, for Valentines, I make a nice dinner that’s not too time consuming, and use my time and energy for the setting! Tablecloth, cloth napkins, placemats, Candlelight, nicest china. The boys get some exposure for “Prom Date” Manners!

But the BEST THING? Each person gets a turn to hear from his brother and his parents (or sons and spouse) why they are LIKED and what is Appreciated about them! ! !

A memorable opportunity for competitive boys to admit that their is something that they like about each other. Maybe not as infrequent in other family configurations, but for 2 teen boys – It’s a FEAST!

Hope your Valentine’s Days were YUMMY!!!
